MTN Group and Airtel Africa will share the mobile network infrastructure in Uganda and Nigeria in accordance with the provisions of a recent agreement.
This strategic collaboration, which aims to reduce investment costs and broaden service coverage, will enable both organizations to satisfy the increasing demand for digital and financial services without incurring the exorbitant fees that are associated with the construction and maintenance of separate networks.
It is anticipated that this agreement will enhance operational efficiency and accelerate network growth, particularly in rural areas where connectivity remains severely restricted.
Both businesses have expressed their intention to explore comparable potential in other African markets, such as Congo-Brazzaville, Rwanda, and Zambia.
They will focus on features such as the share of radio access networks and the collaboration of fiber infrastructure.
